Job Description :

Due to the governmental nature of the assignment, only US Citizens and Green Card holders will be considered.



Researches engineering drawings, specifications, service data and Government-furnished source data in preparing and editing various types of technical manuals including Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) for military vehicles.  Reviews data to determine detailed scope and content of project including illustrations.  Reviews drawings, engineering reports, specifications and related contract material.  Prepares technical data for completeness, format and technical accuracy.   


Preparation of Technical Illustrations essential to the success of the integrated logistics support to include but not limited to: HMMWV TMs, Kits, Digest Articles and CS equipment.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Researches and prepares manuals such as Operators Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, and IETMs, and other publications relating to military vehicles and equipment.  Incorporates changes into appropriate manuals as required by Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Release Records, and DA Form 2028s.

Prepares and edits technical manual and IETM procedures which include informational and instructional narrative on theory of operation, maintenance, diagnostics and selection of parts and assemblies.  In coordination with Illustrators, explains type of illustrations required, breakdown of text and arrangement of illustrations.  Coordinates with Engineers and other involved personnel and obtains the technical data and information to be incorporated in the publications.

Compiles and develops data describing preparations necessary for tools used, inspection required and final preparation for service readiness.  Prepares initial composition of manuals and IETMs.  Edits own work for compliance with specifications and directives, spelling, grammar, continuity and compliance with Government requirements.

Participates in Validations/Verifications to ensure technical accuracy of publications materials.

Working conditions include office workstation and when needed, shop workstation to perform hands-on validation/verfication efforts.



Required Qualifications :

Minimum four years experience in the field of Military Technical Writing development. Aptitude for mechanical applications to vehicles and equipment.  Knowledge of XML software is essential.
