Job Description :

We have a great client who is a specialty automotive manufacturer that has the immediate need for a Sr. Designer to join the team at their Auburn Hills facility.

The Sr. Designer will be responsible for applying engineering principles to the design of military vehicles and their components or assemblies. Preparing creative designs or related drawings or details; using designs to develop specifications or estimates of materials needed for a project. Monitoring the status of design projects and provides guidance to more junior designers or to drafters.  



Due to the governmental basis of the work, only US Citizens and Green Card Holder will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating new designs and following them from prototype through production release

  • The candidate shall have the capability to generate robust and innovative designs that are optimized with regards to manufacturability, weight, and cost

  • Regularly generating vehicle general packaging studies.

  • Complete Chassis component and electrical harness designs (CAD), packages, platform architecture studies, steering and suspension kinematics studies

  • Designing Powertrain integration/packaging solutions

  • Creating basic tolerance stack-ups.

  • Regularly review designs for issues and develop feasible solutions to resolve problems as before or as they occur.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with various stakeholders by communicating project status, issues and next steps



Required Skills:

  • Min. 5 years’ experience in 3D CAD modeling

  • Min. 5 years’ experience in component design and packaging

  • Min. 5 years’ experience with NX, parametric modeling and detailing 

  • BSME or equivalent relevant degree

  • Electrical Harness/Component design and packaging experience

  • Mentor Graphics CAPH, working knowledge in the creation of electrical harness detail drawings

  • Having knowledge of multiple CAD systems is highly desirable

  • Creo Parametric 2.0 or newer

  • Teamcenter visualization and Teamcenter PLM

  • NX Motion and NX Routing

  • Vehicle Design Automation (Human Factors)

  • Working knowledge of GD&T and descriptive geometry

  • Familiarity will military specifications and standards

  • Ability to apply SAE standards regarding H-Point, AHP, seat belt anchorage zones, eye ellipse, obscuration studies, etc.

  • NX Human Modeling and NX Vehicle Design Automation

  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office software
