We have a great specialty automotive manufacturer that has the need for a Product Designer to join their STS team at their Auburn Hills facility.

The pay rate for this long-term contract opportunity is $22-28/hour and based on experience.

Due to the governmental basis of the work, only US Citizens and Green Card Holder will be considered.

Job Description:

• Responsible for creating new designs and following them from prototype through production release


• The candidate shall have the capability to generate robust designs that are optimized with regards to manufacturability, weight and cost


• The candidate shall have the capability to generate vehicle general packaging studies (HFE)


• Candidate shall possess knowledge and skills in the subject position, and be able to resolve issues and develop feasible solutions using prior experience


• Candidate must be a self-starter, highly motivated and work with minimal guidance


• Track record of developing innovative design solutions and problem solving


• Ability to work effectively in a team environment with various stakeholders by communicating project status, issues and next steps


• Process changes to models and drawings as required


• Follow corporate standards and policies

Required Skills:

• Capability to perform CAD, SAE based HFE studies


• Manufacturing experience a plus in stamping / castings


• Basic understanding of GD&T


• Knowledge of 31000 MIL Spec Standards

Required CAD Experience:

• Min. 3 years’ experience in 3D CAD modeling


• Min. 3 years’ experience with NX, parametric modeling and detailing

Additional Preferred Experience:

• Having knowledge of multiple CAD systems is highly desirable


• NX 11


• Creo Parametric 2.0 or newer


• Teamcenter visualization


• Teamcenter PLM


• Jack software

Additional Skills:

• Working knowledge of GD&T and descriptive geometry


• Familiarity will military specifications and standards


• Familiarity with SAE standards regarding H-Point, AHP, seat belt anchorage zones, eye ellipse, obscuration studies, etc.


• NX Human Modeling


• NX Vehicle Design Automation


• Basic skills with Microsoft Office software

Educational requirements:

BS or Associates Degree in Automotive Design or equivalent experience
