Our client, a major chemical manufacturer, is looking for a contract Polyurethane Tech to work onsite with their R&D team in Wyandotte, MI. 


This is a long-term contract opportunity (possibility of extension or direct hire for the right employee) and a pay rate of $22/hour.


The R&D Technician will, while working with a scientist, perform several operative tasks on a constant basis to further the research and development of polyurethanes.

Typical job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Blend experimental urethane systems for testing. 

  • Follow lab procedures to prepare samples for testing. 

  • Setup equipment to process developmental systems in a manner that is consistent with customer’s requirements. 

  • Maintain and record all formulation and processing conditions, observations, for all systems. 

  • Submit samples of developmental systems for physical property testing. 

  • Process and prepare developmental systems for shipping for 3rd party testing.  

    • NOTE: Involves significant record keeping of all details. May involve heavy lifting of materials and test samples on a regular basis 

  • Maintain and monitor lab equipment, with quality records 

  • Maintain supplies of consumables and other materials in the lab 

  • Try to reproduce problems and then try to correct the problem either with processing and technique or chemical adjustments   

    • NOTE: Involves basic carpentry skills (hand saws, nail guns, hand drills, etc.) 

  • Continuous evaluation of EH&S concerns within the lab and large-scale processing areas (chemical blending, spray booths, physical testing, etc.) 

  • Support management and work efficiently in every aspect of the job.



Required Qualifications :



  • Bachelor degree in any discipline, or

  • High school diploma/GED and previous polyurethane formulation experience or similar related industry experience.


  • Polyurethane foam or elastomer formulation development experience

  • Polyurethane processing experience

  • 2-component reactive chemistry experience
