Major chemical manufacturer has an exciting opportunity for an entry level Jr. Chemist to support the team at their facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. 




**This is a long-term contract role with a starting pay rate of $24/hour with possibility of contract extension or direct hire for the right candidate**




Overview


 


 


The primary focus of the Jr. Chemist role is to conduct formulation lab activities that support the development, registration, and manufacturing of new products and formulations for Crop Protection and Seed Treatment.


 




The Jr. Chemist will be required to assist in designing and executing experiments, as well as interpreting laboratory results.


 


 


 


Responsibilities typically include but are not limited to: 


 



  • Perform a variety of well-defined formulation and characterization tests, including the operation of specialized characterization and application instruments/equipment.

  • With supervision, analyze, plan, and implement test methods to help develop viable technical solutions.

  • Document results and draft manuscripts to support registration and manufacturing.


 


 






 


Required Qualifications :

Qualifications




Required



  • B.S. in a scientific discipline such as chemistry or chemical engineering

  • Fundamental knowledge of formulation science, chemistry, and/or product development

  • Demonstrated hands-on laboratory skills, either in an academic or industrial environment

  • Ability to adapt existing laboratory techniques and equipment, and contribute original ideas

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Serious safety focus, attention to detail, problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Practical Laboratory Skills, specifically with Formulation Science and Product Development, Polymer Chemistry, Colloids, and/or Surface Science


 


Preferred



  • Experience with milling, pumping, and other processing/manufacturing procedures

  • Experience with physical characterization techniques (rheology, particle size analysis, pH, etc.)

  • Experience with application of seed treatments and seed coating products.
