Position Overview:
Our Client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Greenhouse Associate to join their Seed Treatment Technology Center in Research Triangle Park.
This is a contract role (possible extension or direct hire) with a pay rate of $24 hourly. (Benefits available)
Schedule: Full-time *;00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours per week)
This role involves assisting with greenhouse and lab research, performing hands-on tasks, and maintaining compliance with safety, stewardship, and biosafety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general greenhouse tasks, including:
- Preparing pots and flats
- Planting, watering, and fertilizing
- Tying/trimming plants, seed harvesting, threshing, and counting
- Maintaining various crop plants per specific protocols
- Assist with plant tissue sampling and data collection using data management tools.
- Operate electronic equipment such as barcode scanners, cameras, seed threshers, and counters.
- Perform pest control tasks, including insect scouting, pesticide/herbicide application, and integrated pest management.
- Maintain and clean greenhouses and work areas, ensuring compliance with all Stewardship, Biosafety, and QMS directives.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions accurately.
- Operate and maintain equipment while keeping appropriate documentation.
Required Qualifications :
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science field with minimal experience, OR
- Associate’s degree with at least 4 years of experience, OR
- Non-degreed with at least 9 years of experience in plant biology or equivalent.
- Skills:
- Experience in greenhouse environments with a strong understanding of plant growth and development.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and address issues.
- Organized, self-driven, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow defined procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week in fluctuating climates.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
