Our client, a major chemical manufacturer, is looking for a contract Farm Specialist to work onsite at their production facility in Acampo, CA
THIS IS A 12-MONTH CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION OR DIRECT HIRE WITH A PAY RATE OF $23 - $27/HOUR.
Position Overview
As a Farm Specialist, you will oversee and support the operational work at our R&D farms. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the success of breeding, research, and marketing projects through effective farm management, crop monitoring, and collaboration with various teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and support activities such as tractor operation, pesticide application, irrigation, and fertilization.
- Conduct scouting and crop monitoring to implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Identify and execute technical solutions to improve daily farm operations and efficiency.
- Ensure proper use of farm facilities while adhering to company safety regulations.
- Assist with planting, maintenance, harvesting, and crop evaluations to support breeding, research, and marketing teams.
Required Qualifications :
Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma with 6+ years of agriculture experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in farm operations, agriculture, and crop management.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of farm equipment operation and crop management concepts (e.g., pest control, irrigation, nutrition).
- Strong understanding of farm safety principles.
Skills:
- Solution-oriented with a proactive mindset.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a diverse team.
- Preferred bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
