Job Description :
Our client, a major utility company, is looking for an Environmental Specialist to work with their team onsite at their power plant in River Rouge, MI.
This is a long-term contract position (eligible for extension or direct hire for the right candidate) that offers a starting pay rate of $34/hour (benefits are available).
The ultimate goal of this position is to ensure that the client is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations at the power plant facility.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Complete field environmental inspections of waste, water, and air systems.
- Maintain environmental management systems and plans that identify the location of hazardous sites, chemical inventories, and complaint investigations.
- Implement spill prevention programs and hazardous waste regulations.
- Develop and recommend solutions to eliminate pollution and environmental hazards.
- Collect samples of waste, soil, and water as needed.
- Act as the power plant’s liaison for environmental compliance concerns.
Selected candidate will work with both the client's River Rouge and St Clair Power Plants.
Required Qualifications :
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or relevant fields
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role (power plant technician, engineering experience, or environmental compliance)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, interpretations, and health and safety programs
- Aptitude to solve problems quickly with advanced conflict resolution skills
- Outstanding analytical abilities
