Position - Electrical Field Data Collector
Job Summary:
Provide as-built measurements and photo documentation of existing electrical infrastructure & equipment at facilities operated by Customer, located throughout the State of Michigan.
Typical Assignments:
1. Adhere to the Customer Gas Transmission Drafting Field Data Collection Procedure
2. Adhere to safety equipment requirements & procedures
3. Review emergency & non-emergency contact information
4. Review project scope & schedule with Transmission Drafting (TD) team
5. Travel to site(s) to collect electrical field data • Document existing site conditions: Use the provided set of electrical drawings to verify dimensions, materials bubbles, material quantities and confirm descriptions are correct. Provide field sketches as required. Photograph entire site including but not limited to:
§ Power poles
§ Light poles
§ Power & instrument racks
§ Conduit risers
§ Connections to panels & equipment
§ Building details – exterior & interior
§ Grounding systems
§ Communication systems
§ Evidence of any potential risk hazard

• Document new construction: Same as existing site conditions above and:
§ Location, depth & photo documentation of all underground electrical installations, prior to backfilling trenches


Safety:
Successful candidate must:
• Must possess a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) certification
• Comply with Customer Contractor Safety Handbook, along with other specified safety procedures, as provided by TD staff
• Comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Comply with National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 70E standard

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of electrical & instrumentation experience, including a firm understanding of:
§ National Electrical Code (NEC)
• National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 70E standard
• Electrical power (AC & DC) & control wiring (power distribution, schematic & ladder diagrams, etc.)
• One line diagrams & wiring diagrams
• Grounding systems
• Plan, section and detail views, of buildings & instrument installations (2D drawing files)
• Conduit & cable sizes and types
• Conduit routing & assemblies
• Motor control centers (MCC)
• Lighting
• Area classification
• Hazardous area fittings
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• General knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) technology
• General understanding of mechanical piping (welded, flanged and threaded process piping assembly and installation, etc.)
• General knowledge of corrosion and communication/control systems
• Able to prepare detailed field sketches
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated pro-active approach to work performance
• Work a flexible schedule as some overtime may be required
• Able to work in adverse weather conditions
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications

Candidate shall provide:
Valid Driver’s License
Reliable transportation
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

Safety glasses that meet ANSI Z87.1 requirements
Hard hat that meets ANSI Z89.1, Class E Hard hat requirements
• FR Safety high visibility vest (when applicable) and Fire retardant (FR) clothing (worn during construction activities)

$36/hour


Required Qualifications :
 This position is 100% traveling to different parts of Michigan

Must be able to work in irregular environments and walk on irregular surfaces.  There can be gravel, uneven concrete, dirt, etc.  There could be reasons for someone to have to bend down, lay down to collect measurements, etc.
