Brake Press Operator - Auburn Hills 10 hours/4 days week

Job Description :

Set-Up and Operate older generation Brake Press.

Mon - Thursday, 6 AM - 4:30 PM


·         Review inspection sheets for part number information and to review quality control characteristics to be monitored. Operate press, making sure the press area remains free of debris. Keep steel and materials lubricated continuously during operation to ensure efficient operation of equipment and accurate stamping of parts. Use a paintbrush or roller for oiling parts where automatic oil feeders are not available on equipment.  Dump scrap tubs during operation, as necessary.

·         Ensure production times and quantities produced meet company specified standards. Perform die set-up and equipment repair efficiently, in the least possible amount of time. Plan activities by thoroughly thinking through all necessary steps, to reduce lost time due to error or inefficiency.

·         Review press logs for material specifications and verify correct material is in place. Prepare materials as necessary. Uses cutting torches or cutters (nibblers) to cut away damaged material from the press created during production.

·         Locate materials needed for equipment operation and move materials to the proper area for production, as necessary. Utilize a fork lift truck for materials if a qualified driver.

·         Continuously inspect parts to ensure they meet company and customer control standards.  Use check fixtures where provided and check parts regularly with the use of micrometers, gauges, etc. If discrepant parts are suspected, stop equipment operation and check with the Production Supervisor and/or Quality Control Supervisor before continuing press operation.

·         Assist other machine operator personnel in resolving production problems related to die set-up or equipment operations.

·         Maintain a clean and organized work area. Clean press area prior to equipment operation.  Remove personal items from press area. Replace tubs properly. Clean and organize scrap tubs, material storage areas and general production areas, as assigned.  Return materials, tools, rags, gloves and other equipment to appropriate areas when no longer needed.   

Required Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications

·         Skilled in reading blueprints.

·         Able to add, subtract, divide and multiply all units of measure, including fractions, whole numbers, decimals, and percentages.

·         Able to work without immediate supervision.

·         Time management.

·         Solid analytical skills, well-motivated.

·         Willingness to work in a team environment.
